Hollands & Blair Reserves 1-8 Hawkinge Town
Kent County League Division One Central & East
Saturday 7th October 2017
Report by Grant Wilbur Photographs Alex Lawford

Hawkinge Town travelled to basement club Hollands & Blair Reserves and came away with all three points after an emphatic 8-1 victory.

The visitors were without Player Manager James Everitt, Darren Winfield and Harry Nunn from last week’s team that lost to Kings Hill. James Gibson, Michael Yianni and Dean Jones returned in the starting eleven.

Hawkinge raced into a 4-1 half time lead. Crowd favourite John Smith converted a penalty after he was brought down in the opening minutes. Smith made it 2-0 after latching on to a Ryan Taylor cross. Toby Heydon beat the offside trap and rounded the Blair goalkeeper before firing home. Michael Yianni scored a fourth for Hawks when he headed home James Gibson’s corner.

After the break Smith scored his third to put the game out of the reach of the hosts and then Lewis Freeland made it 6-1 before another Smith penalty put Hawks into seventh heaven and Smith again completed the scoring with his fifth goal of the game to give Hawkinge a club record 8-1 away win.

Next up for Hawkinge is a home fixture against Deal Sports at the Hawkinge Community Trust Sports Ground on Saturday. Kick off 2.45pm.

Hawkinge: Cook, Sinclair, Holden, Dickson, Mortimer, Jones, Gibson, Heydon, Yianni, Smith, Taylor. Subs. Wilkins, Freeland, Walton, Miles.
